Band of Brothers

Yesterday I had an incredible opportunity to see some of the men of Easy Company, the real Band of Brothers. Dad, Carl, and I went up to Paso Robles where they were dedicating a bridge to Robert Rader, he was a former Easy Company member. Nine of his comrades were there to honor him. I was able to get three of the men to sign my Band of Brothers book! It was very cool. Shifty Powers, Buck Compton, and Don Malarkey signed it. Shifty even gave me a hug!! It was so sweet. Meeting those men was amazing. They were just humble, sweet, old men. When the crowd was honoring and applauding for the veterans one of them just shook his head. As if to say we don't deserve this. I know they don't look at themselves as hero's but in my eyes they are. They were so young when they went to war and they sacrificed everything to go and fight for their country. Amazing. This makes me want to go and interview some WWII vets. I might just go and do that.
